SHOULD YOU GO TO A REHAB CENTER FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

If you are addicted and in need of help should you go to a rehab center over the holidays?  The short answer is YES.  Absolutely!

Various national studies over the last several years show that there are more drug and alcohol related overdoses, emergency room admittances and suicides then at any other time of the year.

For some reason the past for most people seems to get clearer and more present to mind during the holiday season; more so then at any other time of the year.  When a person is addicted to drugs the memories that visit them during the holidays for the most part are not pleasant ones.  They are not pleasant for the addict and they are not pleasant their loved ones.  The addictive life style is filled with problems, dishonest deeds, familial conflicts, alienation, ecomonic stress, depression and sadness.  Every person struggeling with addiction knows this to be true, no matter what temporary false sense of well being  the drug or drink is giving them.

The solution an addict uses to deal with these unpleasant memories is to use more drugs or liquor to block the view of  their not so happy cirrcumstances.  Ramping up the addictive pattern and consuming more drugs and alcohol over the holidays in an attempt to "be happy" will only end up piling more misery on top of the misery that is already there.   The drug induced pleasure moments get shorter while the discomfort grows after the drug wears off which drives the addict to consume even more drugs.   This is the thought process and life style that is driving more addicts to the hospital or the morgue during the holidays then at any other time of the year.

If you are in trouble with drugs or alcohol and know you need a treatment program or if you are a family member who is trying to get an addicted loved one help, start contacting rehab centers now.  If you don't know where to start call the toll free number on this web site.  In your search for a rehab center find the one whose staff truely understand how critical this time of year can be for an addict and who will work with you how ever long it takes to lock in a treatment-bed in a good result driven rehab center.

Don't put it off until the first of the year.   Unfortunately waiting until after the holidays to get help is an all to prevelent thought process amongst addicts and their family members.  The odds are great that the addict's cirrcumstances will not improve over the holiday season in fact they will only worsen.  Trying to create a happy holiday season with the family when an addict is in the equation is next to impossible and ususally only makes everyone feel worse by the time the new year has arrived.  The best gift that can be given or received for those addicted is to safely make it through the holiday season by going to a rehab center and starting on the path to recovery now.  Addiction is predictable there are one of three outcomes, death, prison or sobriety.  Begin the new year sober and in a drug free treatment envionment.   You won't be sorry you did.

I beleive that if you wanna help yourself and if you wanna really change, it doesnt matter if its the holidays or not. Because if your using drugs, you might be there physically with your family and friends, but what your really doing is hurting them!
